But I do have an ultimate excuse. Excuse for not blogging AND excuse for not doing so hot last semester.
For those of you who haven't heard.....
I'M PREGNANT!
That's right folks! I still look at those words with eyes wide open in shock. It definitely was a surprise for us too! Now for story time...
It all started the end of October. I was a few days "late" and had briefly thought about the chance of being pregnant [the non-existant chance, at least so I thought], but I quickly brushed off that thought thinking there was no way. A few days later, with still no "Uncle T.O.M," we ended up buying some tests. I reluctantly took them, knowing they'd come back negative. So you can only imagine our surprise when all 3 of them had those life-changing words "pregnant" written right across them. I don't think I really had anything immediately run through my mind... My thoughts just left me and I just stared. I've never felt so many emotions at once!
We had originally planned on telling our families on Thanksgiving, since it was only a month away. But when I called my doctor and was told I wouldn't have my first appointment until the middle of December, I was really disappointed! I wanted to have an ultrasound to show everyone as proof of this sweet baby, but most importantly, I wanted to have that doctor's appointment to make sure everything was okay before telling our family and friends. When I found out that half my family wouldn't be attending Thanksgiving dinner, it made the decision easier for me. We decided it would be best to wait until Christmas to announce our little holiday surprise!
Thankfully, Christmas came faster than I thought it would! I've never been so excited for a holiday before! We bought cute picture frames to hold a copy of the ultrasound. On the one for my family it said "Coming Soon," and on the one for Jared's family it said "Bun in the Oven." It was a special day being able to announce our little miracle to those we love the most.
So now the secret's out! Crazy, right?! It still doesn't feel real to me, even though I'm now starting to show. I'm sure it will hit me when I start feeling this little bumpkin move around in there. I lay still every night trying to feel something. I can't wait to have that moment!
Q&A time!
I've had a lot of friends and family ask me questions, so I'll try to answer them here! :)
How far along are you? On Tuesday, I'll be 16 weeks! I can't believe I'm already 4 months! My favorite part right now is knowing that this little one can now hear our voices :)
When are you due? June 25th. To me, a perfect time to have a babe! Not in the middle of a semester [yes, I will still be pursuing my degrees, for those of you who care], I won't have to be huge all through summer, and in both of our immediate families [consisting of 26 people] there are only 2 birthdays in June--my mother-in-law and my oldest brother. No grandkids! Yet. ;)
Have you had any cravings? Leave it to me to have the ultimate craving for one of the few things I cannot eat at all :( sushi. I want it so bad. You have no idea. Other than that, I haven't had many cravings. I eat lots of pickles, but I've always loved pickles.
What is the best part of being pregnant? I love knowing that there is a human being growing in my tummy! Although I'll admit I don't think I've experienced the best parts of pregnancy yet. The first few months haven't been fun. But it will all be worth it! :)
What is the worst part of being pregnant? Oh boy. I've been really sick. A few weeks after taking the positive test, I remember I was so nervous because I didn't have any symptoms of being pregnant. I specifically remember wishing I would get morning sickness so I had some confirmation! Oh wow, do I take that back. Now that I'm in my second trimester, it has been getting better, but it has still been really hard. At least I'm only throwing up every few days instead of every few hours, right? I'm very thankful for anti-nausea meds. But being sick has been the worst part! Oh, and not being able to eat my sushi!
Are you hoping for a boy or a girl? At first I wanted a girl. Of course Jared wants a boy. But now that I'm pregnant, I really don't prefer one over the other. Either gender will be so much fun, in their own way! We will most likely find out if the babe is a he or a she the beginning of February! Ahh!
What has been the biggest surprise? Finding out I was actually pregnant! Wow, that was a shocker! Other than that, recently waking up and feeling my rock-hard and protruding belly has been quite shocking as well. But amazing! :)

Well, there you go! I'm so thrilled to be adding to our family, I think about this little munchkin all the time. Can't wait until June!!!
