New Recipe Blog!

Alright friends, it looks as though I've decided to start my own recipe blog!  It's not so much a cooking blog [I don't have the time or patience to take pictures of recipes step by step, just taking a picture of the final product is enough for me!], it's mostly just where I'm going to keep track of my favorite recipes.

I love the idea of being able to make something new, and then if I like it, I'll put it on my new blog so I can remember!  So, it's mostly for my own personal uses, but some of these recipes are just SO good I thought maybe I should share them.  ;)

Let me know what you think!  And as always, if you have any yummy recipes for ME, please do share!

Check out my new blog HERE!

Christmas Festivities

Christmas is always a blast with our families!  And boy, did we [actually ME] get spoiled this year!  It was a busy yet FUN few days.  On Christmas Eve, we celebrated early with Jared's family, and of course it was a great time like always!  Then on Christmas we slept in, opened Santa's presents, made yummy breakfast, and then went to my parents' house for their Christmas celebration!  It's always fun going from Jared's small family of 7 people to my crazy, loud family of 22!  I love the contrast, it makes them both so unique!  I wouldn't change a thing  :)

The BEST present ever!  NO MORE BLURRY PICTURES!!!  ;)
Look how spoiled I am...  So much for sticking to a budget SANTA!

Like I said, we were I was VERY spoiled this year!  No, of course ALL of this isn't mine, half of it is Jared's...  But he did such a better job this year  :(  I failed.  Jared got a few shirts, some movies, a book, jeans, an egg poacher [he can never quite get it quite right without it], some Ugg slippers...  And then there are my gifts.  I got a few shirts, some awesome boots, a movie, some jewelry, a gorgeous watch, and, uh, my amazing camera with a back pack carrier.  Yeah, so much for a budget Jared!  What a punk!  [the other stuff you see is from family and friends, you're all fantastic, we love you!]

Now time for my family celebration!  ;)

Meet my eldest brother...  Classic Chris shot.
The cute purse my madre got me!
Becky decided she wanted in the picture while Jared opened his gift  :)
Stinker Jaeden
How handsome is this one??
Best gift of the night!!  Good job Dave & Becky!  My dad's early Christmas present was his puppy Louie...  And he's been creepily obsessed with this dog.  So, this shirt couldn't be more perfect.

I absolutely love this picture!
Cole showing me his big brother's snake!
I love my family!  How many times have I said that on my blog?!  A lot, I'm sure!  I'm super sad I didn't get any pictures of Christmas Eve with Jared's family...  I guess I have the excuse that I didn't have my camera to play with yet  ;)  Right?  Shoot.  In-laws, forgive me!

[family, if you want any pictures {I took a LOT, much much more than these} let me know!]

For a GOOD Laugh :)

I'm sure some of you have seen this on KSL, but when I read it, I was seriously DYYYING!!!  Definitely my kind of humor.  Everyone at work thought I was losing my mind because "it wasn't THAT funny."  I'm sorry.  It IS that funny!  I've found my new hero.  Eli, I love you.

Just take a few minutes out of your day to read this text conversation between this "Eli" and a poor girl who has the wrong number.  Goodness, I LOVE it!

Oh WAIT, don't forget about Part II !!!  The poor girl!

You're welcome.  :)

Physical Therapy *BLAH!*

I know, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people complain about their problems on the Internet. I always want to say, things could be much worse! So please, don’t judge me right now. Today is a rough day and I really just need to vent. I know things could be worse. But right now, I don’t want to hear it. If you couldn’t care less, please just stop here. This venting session is for ME.

Today was my second appointment with my physical therapist to see how I’ve improved. I really do love my physical therapist, he is super nice and helpful. But today I felt like I didn’t improve as much as I wanted to. He almost seemed disappointed in me [I know, it was probably all in my head]. He did say that he thought I had improved about 50%, but you know me, that’s not good enough. Especially since last time he said that I’d be 80% better! He told me I still needed to work on everything, like kicking my feet higher [which I thought I’d been doing very well], to land on the middle of my feet [last time I was heel-striking TOO much, now I’m running on my toes too much], to stop “bouncing” so much and to just “glide” across the ground, and to keep doing my exercises to strengthen my hip muscles and hamstrings to stop my hips from dropping when I land. I almost started crying when he pointed out my hips "dropping" on the video, I wanted to say “that’s my fat a** jiggling, dude! Give me a break!” Ew, I hate watching myself run, so disgusting. And then finding out I haven’t gotten much stronger at all from the exercises he gave me to do… UGH! Oh, and then some high and mighty elite runner came to watch me run and started pointing out how my feet slightly point out. I said, “I’m sorry, I used to dance” but what I wanted to say was “I used to dance, how the FREAK am I supposed to change the way my toes point?!!!”

This was my last appointment unless things started to digress again. And I don’t know how I feel about that. It makes me feel like I’ve been kind of given up on and I know I shouldn’t feel that way. But I don’t feel like my knee has really gotten much better. I mean, I’ve been running 3-4 times a week for 20 minutes [like he told me to], but it’s 20 minutes. It’s hard to tell in 20 minutes! Plus, every night after I run, the back of my knee sort of aches. So I’m terrified to now run more than 20 minutes. I am SUCH a wuss!

I think my last breaking point was at the end of the appointment when he told me I should start working on my speed training now. He started talking about running 5 minutes at a 9 minute pace and then running 2 minutes at a 7:30 minute pace, and alternate these two paces for 20 minutes. I really almost broke down, I wanted to say “I don’t remember the last time I could run 20 minutes at a 10 minute pace without walking, and now I have to go FASTER?!” Once again, why am I such a wimp??

Well… I think I’m done. I’m just having such a rough time with this whole running thing. I just want to be a good runner so badly. SO BADLY. I know I just have to work harder at it, blah blah BLAH. But I’m really starting to believe that maybe running isn’t for me. Maybe I’ll never be a great runner. :( I’m most certainly not giving up. But my spirits are a little low today.

Ahh. Thank you for letting me get that out. Once again, I really don’t want sympathy, etc. Just having a bad day :( But things can only go up from here, right??
